For some weeks now
The lonely black swan
Sails down the creek
Its partner has gone
In vain it searches
The thick reeds by the banks
Uselessly it looks
For her shadow by the bridge
Alone it sole reflection is found
In the flat dark waters
The symmetry of their necks
Bending towards each other
Has been broken
As the knot of their undying love
For only the wind answers
To its haunting cry
With rage and despair it flaps its wings
The night brings down on an empty day
A dreamless void
Going nowhere, for what's the point?
